GTS
Funding In 2005 I bought a compound in Kololi and since then I have been developing the compound to provide accommodation for Members at a very reasonable rate of £80 a week for a double room. this will allow me to make a donation worth about £4,000 a year to GETS towards Teachers Wages and Training Comments to GTS |
It was never our intention to make any profit out of GTS, but then it was also not our intention to put in as much money as we have done over the last 10 years. We never realised that Adam would not just want to help GTS in Gambia but would think of living out there. But, from a couple of years into the idea, I definitely thought of Gambia as a possible place to retire, its climate is very kind to ageing joints and bones. Our project in Gambia has changed from helping one person to being an investment in the lives of many people, a sort of crusade. Through GTS, 36 people have employment and now any additional money of our own that goes in to GTS is to increase the size and scope of GTS to employ and train more people. Projects and hobbies do have a habit of costing more than you intend when you first take them up.. Just work out how much you spend in a year on your hobbies, add to the total the cost of your holidays and I suspect I spend no more and I probably don't spend as much in Gambia as many people spend on drink or smoking in a year, . . . . and it certainly does me and others far more good. 5 Top
