The pages at crosswinds are also fed from the Lineone server where the GTS pages have been found years ago and are still held in the search engine directories. Anyone on the lineone site automatically gets transferred to the Crosswinds pages as soon as they go to the home page and select any page from their. Comments to GTS |
During my most recent visit to Gambia an enterprising software seller came to the GTS office, saying that the number of visitors to the GTS site was far higher than indicated on the splash page counter. He was wanting to promote GTS and get us listed higher on the major search engines - sadly at a price far beyond our range. In the first week of March 2004 I upgraded my site hosting package with Crosswinds.net (who incidentally are brilliant) which now provides GTS with a whole range of advantages - one of which is a site statistics package - totally confirming that conversation. In the first week of March GTS had site visits from people in 22 different countries - In the first 6 days we had 1200 unique visitors. With hits averaging 2000 a day, this actually represents around 170 different people each day viewing an average of 11 different GTS pages. An amazing number of people found the site having searched for Islam, which I also found very interesting and maybe conveys peoples major fears when considering visiting Gambia, (so more work in that area of the site is probably needed). The site gets used its heaviest use between 7am and 8am in the morning and between 1 to 2pm in the afternoon (GMT) Times when I assume people launch their web browsers with GTS set as their home page, which is nice and definitely helps our position on search engines. The hits counter on the GTS Splash page registers around 250 visits a week so the real figure of hits on the site is probably a factor of 7/8 times that number - pushing our total hits to well over aquarter of a million since the site was launched in April 2000. 5 Top
