Ian and Hilary with the kettle they developed for GTS.

Ian spent 3 months in Gambia experimenting with a low cost solar cooker before dreaming up the Eco Kettle that uses just waste paper and cardboard, dry grass and twigs to boil water in just 3 minutes.

Ian's help was invaluable to GTS and we do hope that he will find the funding to return to continue his work

GTS has both sizes of kettle available at our centre for peopel to see and try, they are available at £8 and represent an ideal gift for almost any Gambian family.

We also hope that visitors will offer to sponsor kettles by providing £6 per kettle so that Gambians can then buy their own for just £2, this is more in keeping with the GTS philosophy of letting people but goods rather than be given them for nothing - encouraging people to work rather than rely on charity handouts.
