Updated 15/5/2000 News page Five links to popular Gambian sites is really important. People search the net and look at the first few sites the search engines display. Being listed is a lottery but if sites that are listed are kind enough to provide a link then there is a better chance that your service will reach the people that matter to us. If they join or use GTS then a better share of their holiday spending might reach local Gambians. |
5 links from really well established sites to GTS were really exciting. The slow response of the search engines to list us has been really frustrating. We actually feel quite passionate about GTS's work creating employment in The Gambia, but more than ever we have felt that however good the site is, it is pretty worthless unless people see it. Even if they don't join GTS, they may decide to visit The Gambia and then contact GTS Kololi when they are out there, or talk about it to friends, but they can't do any of these things if they don't know it is there. So when 5 really top sites create links to GTS in the same week it is like all my birthdays came at once. One had thought we were a commercial site, which was also a great complement and another one mailed their list of 700 Gambian or friends of Gambia, telling them about the site, so we hope they will visit the site and tell all of their friends. GTS members Tony and Louise from Coventry spent their two weeks at the Senegambia Hotel, so we hope they had a good time. We have had information that the cost of boat trips from Lamin have increased dramatically since the fire and that discounts are not being given to GTS customers using Mr Amie Badji's boats. I am investigating this - more in the next news and feedback. 5 Top see Lamin Lodge
