Music and Dance is part of the African soul.
Most beach bars have a night a week with music and dancers and "The Pub" in Kololi has live music most nights, most of the hotels run regular African programmes

The music of The Gambia is traditionally based around dance.
Drums feature as the main instrument along with the human voice.

Most of the hotels provide a 'Programme' on some of the evenings of your stay, the larger hotels have their own entertainers who double up as porters, waiters or organisers of daytime activities.

A number of travelling groups provide a cultural taste of The Gambia, and remember as a tourist you will be welcome at most of the hotels in the evening to take in their 'programme' if you fancy a change.

Reggae - You cannot escape the reggae, every street corner every taxi has reggae and if you enjoy the atmosphere then a night visit to 'The Rasta Garden' is a must. This is Lamin's favourite night spot when a programme is being run you shouldn't miss it.

I found one such group on an internet site. They formed in 1986 and toured in Europe, they went by the name
THE "KABIMBANG"- DANCE GROUP

The photographs here were taken by some German visitors,

If you know of their whereabouts please let me know.

The famous Gambian Band, 'Infang Bondi' has toured the UK.
For details of dates and music venues please see the Nijii Site, under his home page - Culture
