News page FeedBack 8/6/2000 I received Email from Kenny Cambell the Deputy Editor, saying they have passed my message on to the Internet Editor where it may find a suitable slot for publication. Thanks METRO
If you know Helen Pierce-Jones, please ask her to contact GTS we have an additional little prize for her. And our thanks for giving The Gambia a bit of press coverage. |
Gambia is tiny but its eagerness to welcome tourists (particularly the British) is overwhelming. The tourist experience is diverse - from the luxury and impeccable service of the hotel, to the hustle and bustle of the Banjul ferry, Gambia offers a destination of contrasts. The countryside follows the shape of the river and safaris allow exploration of the many villages. You can see vultures at the fishing villages or marvel at the hundreds of bird species as you trek through mango swamps en route to a vast, secluded beach. Night life is mellow and once you've acquired a bit of colour from the sun, the locals won't hassle you quite as much with their goods. The restaurants are varied and international - with exceptionally good Lebanese food mixing with traditional local fish dishes. From the graceful curves of the capital's Revolutionary Arch to the basic layout of the Kachikali crocodile pool, with Charlie, its main occupant, Gambia promises a thrilling, yet humbling glimpse of Africa Helen Pierce-Jones, Manchester I don't suppose this is the Helen Jones who has contacted us - but I really hope it is. I'm feeling very guilty BUT I emailed the METRO asking for a plug for GTS. The whole thing was yet another of those coincidences that I have mentioned before. I had talked to a colleague about The Gambia the day before - She travels in to work by Tube and saw the Postcard, printed on the 31st May - My birthday, it was the best card I got that day. 5 Top
