I like the website!!
There are some American websites for travellers
(see Links to other sites from GTS Home) who have a bit more curiosity and passion for the world in which we live.Most Americans never did hear about the '94 events in Gambia -- we are very sheltered. Children are rarely taught much (in public schools anyway) about world history, geography or religion. As a result we are raising ignorant adults, which breeds fear and intolerance. It's sickening.
Some people have even asked Karamo who the President of Africa is! I'm embarrassed, but try to set a better example. Our children will learn outside of the classroom as well! (when we eventually have some). So tourism to West Africa is not common in America.
Most people want to see big animals so they go on safari on the east coast, or they go to Egypt to see the ancient sites.
Caro has promised to visit us in the UK when they return in April, so I hope she brings wonderful pictures and stories from a different view point.
