Many people miss this opportunity completely because they simply do not know it is there. Situated at the Cape Point end of Bakau, they are on the left just past the craft market and the turn for 'Old Cape Road' The gardens were set out in colonial days and provide a criss-crossing walk way through the gardens. There are seats and if you are quiet and patient this is an ideal spot to see a wide variety of birds in the canopy above. The plant species are interesting as well with a magnificent and rare century palm (so called as it flowers and reproduces only once after about 100 years then the parent palm dies. A small admission charge is made, I think 10D per session, but the garden closes at lunch time 12-2 and reopens for an afternoon session. Go covered and/or well sprayed against insect bites. This is a pleasant place to come and eat your elevenses or afternoon snack before or after a trip to the Bakau jetty and fishing port or round Linda's boutique.
