Visit before or after a trip to Abuko nature reserve - It'll only take half an hour and it's very African

On the way to the Abuko nature reserve or Lamin or Brikama you will pass the livestock market on the right just past the Gamtel offices.

A variety of animals are bought and sold here and this will not be everyone's taste for a visit. This is the real Gambia, people from the villages bring their stock here for sale and as you approach festivals like Tobaski, when goats are sacrificed ( remembering the time when abraham was going to sacrifice Isaac but God provided a ram in a thicket) then Abuko is bustling with buyers and sellers.

It is quite a spectacle.

Ask before you take pictures.

Haggling is part of the culture even local to local and it makes interesting viewing watching the local process which can take a very long time.
