There are a number of small potteries and this one is typical. It is run by Mr Seedy Njie. He has been a professional potter since 1988, he was taught by a Senegalese potter so the work has a Senegalese look and feel to it.

In 1992 he earned his professional certificate and was presented it by the President Dawda Jawara.

What Seedy makes is not just round plates and bowls, he sculpts in clay, making animals, faces and tiles. If you visit you will see the part of the process he is currently working on, if you are lucky it will be after a firing, the most exciting time for any pottery artist.

Apart from commissioned work the items around are all for sale and Seedy offers a 30% discount to GTS members.

Visitors not buying are asked to make a small 10D donation to cover the lost time that Ceedy spends discussing his work and showing visitors around.
