Like so many places the management changes and so does the style, we have received a number of emails from visitors that when they went the place was closed - When we went in March we did get a drink there after much waiting but food was out of the question - In August 2001, it looked very deserted. We think that this should be an essential visit on all tourist itineries of The Gambia. In a country where 99% of buildings are on the ground floor, this and Lamin Lodge are both two storied buildings with an exceptional charm of their own, making both worth a visit. You can walk from Kololi, but we recommend a taxi, that way you get to see the real village compounds and the roads that service them from a slightly more comfortable vantage point. As you approach a very large tree in the road stands as if welcoming you - the name of these premises refer to the tree. Built entirely from wood and grasses, this two storey round house is quite unique in the area and highly photogenic. The meals are excellent and the surroundings great. Well woth the taxi fare just to see it. A Thursday is the buffet night and costs 65D. There are 10 rooms to let at 200D a night including breakfast, 7 have full en-suite. There is a GTS members discount, contact GTS Mobile 906319 5 Top
