There's fishing and fishing - The Gambia has an amazing variety and quantity of fish, so many that most operators operate a no catch no pay policy, with very little fear of any claims.

With a line, a hook and a bit of bait, you can haul in fish of all shapes and sizes, from a variety of shore locations.

The pier at Bakau
Along the water front at Banjul
Denton Bridge, and ....
From any vessel paddling among the numerous creeks between Denton and Lamin.
And up river fishing at Tendaba.

Members with a GTS host will have no hassle, but we have heard of individuals being asked to pay by self styled 'officials'

You can go for the more exciting off shore trips - but if it's a lazy day in the sun you really can't beat Denton Bridge or a trip round the creeks.

You can make a trip of it, by starting at either Denton or Lamin Lodge and fishing on your way.

Costs vary. Depending on the size of boat and the number of hours you agree to take, if you need tackle there are less choices and prices are higher, but everything is available if you know where to look.

Hooked on Gambia is a new Sport Fishing enterprise opened in late 2003 and what's more, the company offers a 5% discount to GTS members upon production of their membership card PLUS the opportunity to take their catch back to the GTS bar & restaurant for dinner - where it will be cooked for you at half the menu price
