The SpyBar is our favourite club in the Gambia. Entrance is Theoretically FREE to GTS Card holders The Spybar now regularly lets the club out to freelancers who run the disco and do not recognise the FREE entry for GTS members, it is also worth checking the type of music being offered - nothing worse than getting Destiny's Child if you want MM!! There is security on the front and back entrances. The Club area is large and airy, but has a great atmosphere with a raised seating area all round the dancing floor, divided into individual table bays. There are two bars operating a 'Happy hour' between 11pm and 12pm when you can buy one and get one free. Outside there are extensive gardens all round again with small areas for you to sit and talk or just chill after dancing up a frenzy on the sunken dance floor. There is a third bar in this garden area. Like many clubs the loos are better at the start of the evening than at the end but they are OK. You are there for the atmosphere and the music. If you want a break from the dance floor there is a separate Pool room, with 3 tables and yet another bar. We have heard occasional stories of locals having problems getting into the SpyBar, unless they are with European guests, we have not experienced this ourselves - but the management reserve the right on entrance to all comers and no one is allowed in carrying a bag of any sort. The SpyBar is open from 9pm until people stop dancing. Entrance is FREE Sunday to Thursday night, there is a 50D charge per person on Fridays and Saturdays - by far the busiest nights. We have tried most of the Clubs BUT keep coming back to the SPY, it really kicks off from 12 onwards, but is pleasant at any time.
