These glass-fronted premises are a real eye catcher. Opposite the Tao Chinese Restaurant, and with plants growing all along its front, it has a large screen showing a movie - any movie "and the music keeps on playing, on & on".

The Aquarius is a composite of activities. It is a bar, a restaurant with a large seating area in the open to the side of the main building and it's a disco and an ice cream parlour.

Gambians are seldom allowed in without European friends as much as anything to protect the clientele from the unwanted attention of bumsters as a result many of the locals prefer the Waaw or Spybar, who seem to be less heavy handed.

That aside, this place has a pleasant, almost European atmosphere.

Entrance is always FREE, but you are encouraged to drink by the very attentive waitresses who remove empty glasses immediately and ask you for your orders.

Aquarius always has people sitting and dancing and gives the impression of a place where people start off the night before moving on to the real thing.
