Sending's school report shows that she tries hard and is doing well.

The Suso family is also known to Foday. The mother and father are Griots (Musicians and traditional story tellers, they preserve the stories of the tribe and attend weddings, funerals and naming ceremonies)

Their income is very low and they rely on the gifts that are given in return for their presence at these important events.

Sending is one of 8 children, she is 12 years old and attends Brikama Junior Secondary School.

Foday visits her family on a regular basis and goes to the school to get a progress report on Sending, direct from her teachers.

I met Sending's family in August, they are friendly and charming. Sending was out that day at extra lessons in Brikama but she returned for our next visit when the heavens opened and the pudle in the road was so large we had to go though other peoples compounds to get back to the car.
