Comments to GTS |
Kololi Beach Club our opposite neighbours still don't recommend us to their guests, but each week we have a steady flow of their guests often coming for a nightcap and then returning for a full meal. This year we have been asking visitors to fill in a short questionaire
Guy & Eileen are regulars to Gambia and KBC guests they enjoy the food and atmosphere and are regular visitors each trip. Aimee arrived back from Canada and will help and support for up to a year, Coca plays a few nights each week at the restaurant his versatile music making fits well into the friendly atmosphere at GTS. Howard claims to be 80 but Gambia is making him younger with each visit, this year he stayed at GTS Manjai and throughly enjoyed himself. Shirley Britton another founder member came in to visit us on a flying one week trip.. Caroline and Naomi popped in on their way to and from Ginak Island, ironically visiting at the same time as Paul Westhead whose comments in the Banta Ba about Ginak development caused a bit of a stir. The Islanders were mainly unaware of Paul's development, so the argument will continue. New members David from Glasgow and Sophia from Spain had a great first visit, they said that GTS had been just fantastic - they could not imagine having such a good visit without GTS support. Pat and Angie arrived and replaced Howard at Manjai for 2 weeks and new members Tim and Emma moved into a double room at our new GTS Kololi. (Available for booking through GTS and acquired due to the volume of accommodation requests now handled by GTS each week - pictures and prices available shortly) The other night Bob and Tina just arrived to surprise us - old friends and loyal GTS supporters for a number of years, GTS is rather like having a big extended family Pauline who lives here still manages and this month has her son Jamie out on a visit. Eric who so helped GTS during the rainy season prepares for a trip back to the UK his first for a number of years. Adam and I have been busy making refurbishment changes to the kitchen, and toilets, we have put a new roof on the upstairs restaurant. We are currently decorating through out ready for our new 'A la Carte' restaurant which will open on the first of December. Pamela and David Brodie - New GTS Members arrived to fulfill their UK promise to let GTS use their property in Brufut for at least 5 years, more on that very soon. The Dardeema
saga continues, Cham our original chef who plotted with the landlord to
take Dardeema back from us after all our work in getting planning permission
and registration, along with extensive refurbishment found himself on
the other end of the landlord who threw him out at the end of October
and is rumoured to be thinking of running it himself until October 2004
when GTS takes the lease over again. After a horrible rainy season, GTS has emerged even more robust. The GTS reputation is spreading, not only worldwide via the website but throughout Gambia, where Kabs seems to manage to get GTS press coverage a couple of times every month. The new Rough Guide to Gambia has at last been published and we hope that GTS will benefit from our coverage in that - Emma the author and her friend Nathan are due to visit soon, we look forward to their visit. GTS features local music most nights of the week, Sam's trio plays on Saturdays and Mondays - the Jola cultural band KabinBang plays on Wednesday and Sundays, featuring fire eating and tribal dance on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays - Coca plays variations of his own music from Guinea Conakery. We look forward to your company at GTS. 5 Top
