Taxi driver friends of GTS have been saying that it was getting very hard to live on the money charged on fixed fares, finally the prices have increased and this is bound now to feed through to other prices rises.

The increase is not really surprising as fuel prices have also increased.

The fares apply to the local Green and Yellow Taxis / Buses, public transport has also increased, this will affect tourists slightly, but the cost of transport is still relatively cheap compared with public transportand taxis in the UK and from whatI can gather eleswhere in the world.

The fare from Brikama to Serrekunda was pegged at D5.00
Tabokoto to West Field, Latrikunda to West Field at D3.00
West Field to Banjul, Serrekunda to Banjul at D4.00
Serrekunda to Bakau D3.00
Bakau to Banjul at D4.00.
