The President visits Kololi

During the first week of Helen's she joined the kids to welcome him.

Tuesday 4th February sees a visit to the local village of Kololi by President Jammeh.

20 kids have been chosen to sing 3 songs to him. Rehearsals started at midday and they were having problems keeping in tune. Eventually though, they get it right and all was well.

We arrrived in Kololi at 3.00 pm and there was a lot of music and dancing going on – such a big occasion. The President didn’t arrive until just before 7 pm !! (Dark in Gambia even in February, so no pictures iof his Excellency) The kids were marvellous - having to stand and wait all that time – no moans, no groans, they were just so happy and content to be there and representing their school.

The next day another special assembly was called to announce that President had given approximately £780 to the school and the headmistress decided that the money would be spent on a huge party for everyone in the school. She felt it so important that everyone in the school should be able to celebrate the school's good fortune.
