The problem for many people in developing third world countries is that ordinary local people have no way to raise capital to be enterprising, so they remain economic slaves.

Poverty and unemployment tends to be a vicious circle with no means of escape. Banks will only lend money to people who have property as security against their loan and they all charge HIGH interest.

ALL GTS membership money is used to provide either a source of money for small interest free loans - up to £50 (1000 Dalasi). As the money is repaid it becomes available for further loans. Or is used to finance education in one form or another.

All the money invested by GTS and income created by GTS Kololi stays in The Gambia for further investment to provide more employment opportunities.

If you are interested in helping GTS in any way, beyond your membership subscription, by channelling your generosity and concern through us, please contact us by any of the means available through this Website.

Our GTS account is with the Halifax Bank - "Gambia Tourist Support Fund" any members can see the accounts and details of all expenditure. GTS UK is not large enough yet to be registered as a Charity, but as soon as our income is over £1000 per year we will start this process.
