Gambia Tourist Support

A unique Gambian holiday with GTS

GTS only has a website, and word of mouth.
It exists for tourists to The Gambia, who want to explore this tiny West African Country and not spend all of their holiday round the pool or on the beach.

It isn't surprising that when you think holidays,
YOU DON'T think Gambia Tourist Support

2010 is our 13th year anniversary

SO WHY START NOW?
Gambia used to be a British Colony. Way back, it was one of the main ports for the slave trade, later the British patrolled the river and protected its mouth to prevent anyone from continuing the trade.

The 1960's brought INDEPENDENCE and Swedish and Danish packaged tour operators, catering to a down-market clientele in search of a more "exotic", and prestigious alternative to the Balearic Islands and the Spanish Sun Coast.
Alex Haley wrote ROOTS which was televised and The Gambia was on the tourist map

Around 50% of all visitors are British.
In 2005 total tourist arrivals were 275,000.

MOST people book a fortnight of guaranteed SUN, in a hotel along a stretch of Atlantic Sea and Sand, stretching from the old colonial capital Banjul to Kololi 5 miles to the south.

BUT Gambia offers much more, than beautiful beaches

This is where GTS Experience Can Help

Fantastic fishing along the coast and the river Gambia
If you don't like fishing, you will enjoy the dishes prepared from the catch

Birds - over 550 varieties

A totally different African lifestyle
The landscapes, buildings, dress, food, trees, flowers and animals
Different music, dance, traditions, lifestyle and languages
International Cuisine
Dozens of restaurants offer fantastic menues and a very wide choice
The Gambia caters for top luxury down to a backpackers delight
There is something for everyone if you know where to find it

GTS caters for anyone who wants to leave their hotel and spend some time in the care of a host who will take you and show you anything and everything you want to see
GTS offers family groups from 1 to 6 the unique opportunity of exploring as if you were visiting old friends. We cater for the shoestring tourist as well as those who just want the best at any price

GTS caters exclusively for no more than 100 small groups in a year, so you get individual personal attention as soon as you arrive at Banjul International Airport, for as much or as little time as you want.

Why not use big operators ?
From every £ you spend, only 10p goes to the local economy.
You spend your time looking at The Gambia rather than being part of it.
Your holiday is dominated by their clock, rather than your time
You lose the first and last day, with transfers and booking times
You are treated as a tourist - with us you are a GTS Member
You are one of the crowd - with GTS you are a personal guest and friend
