Gambia Tourist Support
A Selection of Members

2000-2001 - PICTURE GALLERY
GTS had its first year being run properly and single handed by Foday after Lamin surprised us by pulling out in November 2000 just as the season was starting
Without Foday GTS would have collapsed

Dave and Aileen
Dave and Aileen
Many of Foday's tourist contacts have joined GTS, which has grown from under 20 in 1999/2000 to over 100 during 2001

Claire joined - We think she arrived safely in Gambia but never contacted Foday and has never been in touch again

--------------------

Carol and David
arrived at our worst time of last year (March & April). Lamin had promised to return the GTS Nissan Patrol - but then refused to do so, tying up over £8000 of GTS assets. David and Carol had an excellent Microlight flight and sent us some great pictures

We arranged accommodation for David & Family

We had to use a close friend to act as their GTS host - All went well until the family hired a car and got so stuck in the sand that the sea swamped it.
All ended OK, but we still await the pictures

Dave 'geli geli'
Was one of our early members and has been a constant support, helping when we had the container to send and as a founder of our orphanage fund to create secure homes for some of our sponsees.
We hope to continue building on this early in 2002.

Why geli geli ?
Dave hopes to drive in Africa as soon as poss

Dean & Ellen

Joined GTS from America and took an unusual route via Paris and Dakar, entering Gambia upriver and raveling back down to Banjul. Foday then took then by car back to Dakar.

-------------------------------

Jill and Duncan
Foday hosted them to Lamin where Jill fed monkeys, busy life back in the UK has taken back over but Jill sent some great shots of their visit

John & Kay
Have registered their own charity, raising money to build a school in Essau on the north bank.

Their Gambian contact the Rev Jackson runs an excellent school in Banjul, we hope the Essau school will be as vibrant.

Kirsty
Has become a regular visitor and sends us some excellent pictures, taken as part of a photography course she has just completed.

We think they should become part of a

GTS calendar or postcard set.

Carolyn's family
Have visited The Gambia for over 10 years and recently took out family membership

The family will be out this October half term, visiting old friends on the North Bank

Caroyln has been a long term user of the GTS site and visits regularly to see what is happening

Tony
Is visiting in November, like us he finds Gambia a relaxation from the busy lives we lead in the UK
Like many members Tony is interested in the accommodation offers we are providing.
