GTS has had connections with this compound and since our first visit to Gambia in 1997. Then Lamin Ceesay said it was where his family lived and we visited for a meal, later we discovered that Lamin just rented and it was the landlady we visited.

The Manjai compound is no longer available for renting the text below is left as an historical record.

The Manjai accommodation is now fully booked between November 2005 to April 2006. For GTS bookings please see GTS Kololi

To encourage tourists into the community and to support the local economy, we have a brilliant family unit in a compound at Manjai for GTS members to use. It is close to the SOS village and school. In July 2003, GTS took full control of this pleasant and typical family compound between SereKunda and Kololi, very near to the West Coast radio station. We have known the family who own the compound for years and have used it ourselves for all of that time.

This compound is only available to GTS members and everyone staying MUST be a member of GTS, and be married or in a couple relationship.
SORRY - NO single sex groups are allowed.

The compound has two double bedrooms and a large living room, which also has an electric fridge and a gas cooker. A mains water shower and UK type flush toilet is attached in a private yard at the rear, there is a spacious verandah at the front, and a yard/garden in front of that which is used communally.

The rooms are furnished simply, all have fans and are equipped with bedding, crockery and cutlery and cooking pots and pans.

Members can use the compound as follows: Either lockable double room can be booked individually, if only one is booked the rest of the facilities may be shared by GTS staff or by other GTS members staying in the second room.

The standard charge for the 1st double, inc. electric, water only gas is an additional consumable charge:-
£55 for the first week,
£100 for 2 weeks and £45 a week for any additional weeks.
(Additional weeks required once in Gambia - on top of those booked will be subject to availability)

A deposit of half the rent must be made after the booking is confirmed & within 4 weeks of occupancy, the balance must be paid before occupancy and can be paid in The Gambia.

A refundable deposit of £100 (**subject to costs of repairing any damage, replacing lost or broken items) must be paid before occupancy. And will be returned after repairs and replacements have been made.

GTS has bikes that members staying in the compound can hire for their stay and we can arrange transport for trips as required. The compound is a genuine 25 minute walk from the GTS Office - Bar and Restaurant and the sea. But is just a minute from the BB Highway, where local taxis can be taken to SereKunda, Kotu, Palma Rima or Senegambia (Kololi) for just a few dalasi per person.

GTS offers all members a FREE on 'arrival transfer service' from the airport, this is available to visitors using the hotels or for Flight Only travelers.

For your return trip we suggest the last day includes a trip out, ending at the airport 'check in' so that you get the very most from your stay. Alternatively we can arrange just the transfer to the airport which costs £12.50
