Two room house under construction in Brufut

Amadou was employed as the GTS builder on all GTS projects
- he is no longer part of GTS.

Building the septic tank.
September 1st - the roof is completed and final fitting out of the interior is started.

Con Number 2

The charismatic young man, who I like to think genuinely helped us & GTS when we were conned by Lamin - later turned 'chancer & opportunist conman'. He extended his con to my parents who also befriended him 'believing his story' and his promise to sign B2 back to us in exchange for funding for his West African music school. Neither stories have come true although he still peddles the West African Music School story and still gets funding to build his family compound on the proceeds.

Like Lamin he has now married a UK lady. He lives in Doncaster and works for the prison service as a warden.

Beware of his sweet tongue, he is a most accomplished liar and continues to con people with his stories.

See May 2003 update at bottom of this page

GTS are currently building a small complex at Brufut, the first part of this is a small detached house with veranda. It has two rooms, plus a kitchen and a shower room with flushing UK type lavatory.

The Brufut compound stands in its own grounds and is only a few 100 metres from the sea. It will be ready for members to use from late in 2001, bicycles can be provided and a small car is available for hire. Ideal for a couple, the house can be used for a family of four.

Beautiful beach and views just yards from the Brufut compounds

GTS now offers all members an 'arrival transfer service' from the airport, this is available to visitors using the hotels or Flight Only travelers.

The house was to be available to GTS members at £40 a week for a couple, £70 for a family of 4. but things in Gambia move along

For your return trip we suggest the last day includes a trip out, ending at the airport 'check in' so that you get the very most from your stay. Alternatively we can arrange just the transfer to the airport which costs £10.

May 2003 - Brufut 2 - like Brufut 1, GTS finds itself at the mercy of how people operate in Gambia. At present the situation is unclear, but sadly neither GTS members appear to have the use of Brufut 2, nor will GTS the benefit from any rent that would be generated.

Brufut 2 was to be our Gap Year centre. A new centre is currently being planned to house gap and working holiday volunteers as well as GTS members
