Binta's father is an artist, but does not have a fixed income and business is not good. Her mother works at the vegetable garden and market selling small things there, and her income is what the family relies on. Binta has been sponsored since she started at Nursery school and is now in Grade 1.

Angela Sarr is an important part of GTS sponsorship and whilst back in England she has spread the word about GTS. Jane asked Angela to arrange for her to sponsor a child and Kabs allocated Binta for this. The sponsor is supporting Binta throughout her education. She also donates a bag of rice for religious ceremonies, and clothing.

Binta is developing and achieving well at school but unfortunately she develops malaria often, which hinders her attendance at school sometimes. She normally goes to the hospital for medication and treatment, the expense of which is often covered by the sponsorship.

Whenever Angela comes to the Gambia, she visits Binta and her family and gives them anything that has been sent by Jane.
