Sponsorship started in 2002. Alagie is from Sanchaba village and lives with his mother and father. He has a very good attendance record at school, but needs to apply himself more. He will be moving to Grade 10 in the next academic year and needs support for his studies.

The Dallimore family had their first holiday in the Gambia and met Alagie on the beach. He was very nice to them and he was emphasising to them that he needed support with his education. They came to the GTS office and took further information about sponsorship. Finally, they decided that they would sponsor Alagie. Alagie has a friend who he is always with called Mamat Humba. Mamat has never been to school before and the daughter of Delyth, Amy, also decided that she would send Mamat to school and will continue sponsoring him.

The sponsors also provide a bag of rice to both students at the end of every term and visit the families whenever they are in the Gambia.
