Comments to GES

GTS is the Gambia operating side of GES. It was started in 1997 and has grown steadily ever since. GTS obtained Gambian charity status in 2003 and started GES with UK Charity status in 2004.

Early sponsorships were by fairly random selection or the children of relatives of GTS co-workers, but that had to stop to prevent GTS workers from being put under intolerable pressure by relatives.

However rules had to be established and now GTS only sponsors poor & orphaned children or children in a family where the bread winner has died.

GTS also administers the sponsorship of many children who are sponsored by GTS members.
