Last year after our first AGM our papers went to the CC and we received a letter saying that the commission was satisfied that we were operating for charitable purposes but a modification to the constuitution would need to be passed at the next AGM - hence a 12 month delay.

The exceptionally well attended 2nd AGM of GES was held the chjange agreed and the papers returned to the CC.

Although the Gambian Education Trust was registered in July 2003 well before our 2004 application - at that time the CC found no fault with our name Gambia Education Support - and despite their assurance in writing that they would proceed aftrer the constitutional change - they have now changed their minds.

So now GES has to hold a further general meeting at which the quorum will be 10 members to agree a name change.

We are waiting the approval of the CC to either the simple 'GES' or
' Gambia Education & Teaching Support' - if they find these unacceptable we will look for a new name.

Julie our Hon Secretary hopes to get the new meeting arranged for 21st July and will contact members.

The CC approved name will be posted on the website for your comments - and we now hope that GETS will be registered by mid August 2005..
