Lesley Headley and Tim Mawer wanted to introduce Badminton to The Gambia - they did that at Tujering and Youna - now their target is to raise the funds to build a Sports Hall in Youna so the sportcan grow and badminton matches can take place between the two schools.

Lesley has agreed to become the GES sports adviser and will keep GES informed of all the developments in this valuable educational project, the first GTS/GES has had in secondary education other than sponsoring individual children.

With the help of GTS, Lesley visited 2 Gambian schools with colleague and UK Badminton Coach - Tim Mawer and student helpers Ben and Sam from the William Carr Comprehensive School where Lesley works and raised the initial money to provide the equipment to be left in Gambia.

The week was packed with making the posts on the day they arrived and visiting each school every day - in between they managed tovist Charlie the Crocodile - the beaches of course and their hotel and the GTS bar and restaurant.
