Once our charity registration is complete all current sponsors of individual young people - will be invited to switch their memberships to GES, which will deal with all educational projects and sponsors from the date of our - Sponsors who are UK tax payers will be able to make their donations Gift Aided, enhancing their supprt of the charity's work by an additional 28%.

Many sponsors do not visit Gambia each year and do not require the support that GTS offers to those visiting Gambia (Free airport pickup, members accommodation, discounts at the GTS Bar and Restaurant etc)
They will now be able to join GES for a minimum subscription of £10 per year.
(with Gift Aid - worth £12.80 to the charity)

Sponsors must be members of GTS or GES.

Sponsors will be charged a small support fee of 10% of their annual donations to support the employment costs of the Gambian staff who carry out all of the sponsorship administration. This will substantially aid the employment of a sponsorship link secretary in Gambia to ensure that ALL sponsors get the tri-annual reporting urgently needed but currently under funded in Gambia.

GES will actively look for a trustee who will be responsible for all our sponsorship work and will ensure that the Student directory on the website is updated.

The financial affect on sponsors in UK terms will be minimal.

Most sponsors support their students with sums between £60 & £120 per year - so will pay a support charge of between £1 and 50p per month, in addition to their £10 GES membership subscription, allowing for a new and qualified member of Gambian support staff to be employed.

I do hope that sponsors will appreciate that this small charge will have a very direct impact on the feedback they will receive.

There will be no 10% support charge for donations to GES aimed at specific GES projects, nor will one off donors be expected or required to be GES members but as membership carries with it voting powers and therefore controls all donors are advised to become members.
