"There is none worthy of worship except God and Muhammad is the messenger of God." This declaration of faith is called the shahadah, a simple formula that all Muslims pronounce.

The significance of this declaration, is the belief that the only purpose of life is to serve and obey God, and this is achieved through the teachings and practices of Gods last prophet, Muhammad. (pbuh)

You will not see religious paintings and statues in a Muslim place of worship. The Mosque, if decorated, will be done so with beautifully ornate or simple texts from the Koran.

Anything else would be considered idolatry.

The Christian practise of paintings, stained glass, statues and carvings of the holy family and religious themes are thought very strange by Muslims.
