From Farafenni, the northern route passes many very similar villages, but at Mina it is worth taking a detour to Bambali and Elephant Island. A canoe trip here will give you a good chance of spotting Hippos and many birds.
From Kerr Batch there are numerous stone circles, not as large as Wassau but each of interest in their own way.
Our own expedition in March April we hope will provide some more details.
