Described as a palm forest on the banks of The Gambia river (Mandina Bolong), the site is ideal for Bird and small animal spotting.

A day spent at MAKASUTU can involve many different activities including river trips in traditional "Dug out" canoes, guided nature walks through the forest, bird watching and animal observation.

You can observe "Bush" people doing their daily work, palm wine tappers, local fishermen and women collecting oysters from the mangroves along the river.

There are also opportunities to participate in a number of activities like pottery making, African cooking, furniture making, carving, dancing and drumming.

The centre has its own restaurant specialising in local dishes.

Matasutu is described as a magical day out.
