Under the inspired leadership of Mr. Bob Mann, the Methodist Mission Agricultural Programme was founded was founded in 1974.

Its aim was to stimulate research, development and training in agricultural practices in order to combat the wide spread degradation of the Gambian environment by the combination of drought and human exploitation.

Those of you familiar with GTS will know that we have a work link with Concern Universal
(see also side bar on
News - Dec 1st 2000 and Miriama link on that page)

Bantang Bantaba is situated at the edge of the forest in front of a magnificent specimen Silk Cotton Tree.
It is designed to attract tourists and locals for a snack and a drink and be informed on several aspects of our work and Gambian culture.

An interesting short forest walk has been designed to allow visitors to enjoy the trees, bush and the many splendid birds.
