THE FIRST

Muhammad was the very first GTS associate to take on the GTS idea and offer discounts to GTS members

The drive down to here is known as the BB highway, because the Bungalow Beach hotel is situated at the end of this main road. Before getting to Bungalow Beach you pass The Badala Hotel which has recently expanded its accommodation down to the Beach (1999-2000). You will find a small road on the left after the hotel, leading down to the beach, (the turn is before you reach Kotu Bridge.)

Follow this road over the shallow creek. (depending on the tide there are some excellent bird watching opportunities - best at low tide)

At the beach walk to your left, (the first beach bar Café de Sol was Barry's, was removed summer 2000) and on towards the Kunte Kinte.

The Bar / Restaurant is fronted with grass shades, seats and sun loungers and Muhammad the owner employees security guards so you belongings are safe to leave while you go down to the sea.

The Bar is busier during the day than at night, but Muhammad does provide full meals at night on request, the place is candle light and the atmosphere is wonderful. The food is excellent.

Meals start at 50D around £2.50, Gambian dishes are about 55D. On Wednesdays and Sundays they have a 7 dish barbecue with music and entertainments the cost is 100D per person and it runs from 8 to 10.30.

Parties of 4 booking in advance can take advantage of FREE transport to and from their hotel.

Muhammad was the very FIRST Gambian to embrace the idea of GTS membership, and has been very supportive of the whole idea. The food is excellent and the quantities at the barbecue take some beating at these prices.

GTS Card holders will get a 10% discount on food prices.
