Sainabou has birthday in UK

Tony and Shirley Britton bring Sainabou to London on the day of her 26th Birthday, which by chance she shares with Owen our youngest son.

We were so pleased when it became clear we could help Sainabou on her first journey out of Gambia and especially on a jet flight.

We met at the airport and as usual sat in the sun to avoid the queues for the departure gate, unfortunately we were not seated next to each other but could see each other across the plane.

As Tony and Shirley do not live far out of London meeting during Sainabous 2 month visit is not a problem.

Dave Anderson one of our founder members and now friend, also visited to make up a bit of a party. Dave and I shared Gambia plans including Dave's planned trip with a Land Rover across the Sahara and into Gambia via Mauritania and Senegal. That's a trip we want to followover the next year or so

Sainabou, Tony and Shirley completed the party and we heard stories about Sainabou from the age of 13, when the Britton's first visited Gambia.

Sainabous ancestors were Mandinka's from Senegal, but came to Gambia several generations ago and settled in Sere Kunda. At some point through family marriage they became Wolof.

Happy 26th Birthday to Sainabou and Happy 17th to Owen

Sainabou will visit us for a weekend in London on 15th September and we hope to visit all the usual places. In Gambia Sainabou works at Sir Williams restaurant and bar during the holiday season, so speaks excellent English and when she is free, may act as a GTS host to female visitors and groups.

Owen continues his A levels the September and hopes to study product design at University.
