This square but not unattractive hotel is a kilometre west of the Palma Rima crossroads. It is a favourite watering-hole for The Gambia's German expats. Once the Bantaba Hotel, its name was changed by the German owner in 1999, and it now has a very smart exterior.

The site is not large and is now being built all around, but it has a small swimming-pool at the back. The sea is quite a trek away, but the views over the Atlantic are excellent.

The groundfloor reception, bar-restaurant & lounge are red-carpeted and Afro-Prussian plush.

There are 11 double rooms and an apartment sleeping 6, all rooms have showers, a balcony and a ceiling-fan

Bed & breakfast is 250-300 dalasis for a double and 200-250 for a single.
