Many thanks to the people who have responded positively to our efforts to help in The Gambia by our presence out there and by sending a container with education materials and other resources.

We hope that those of you in the USA will send your donations and membership subscriptions to our very good friend in Seattle, Caro Horsfall - We will of course provide as high a level of support as we do to UK members and respond to email enquiries about visits to The Gambia.

Caro and her Gambian husband Karamo, can be contacted by email, please see side bar for link.

NOT all the comments from USA site visitors have been positive, which of course is fine, those of you who look in on the site regularly, know that we tell it as comes to us, good and bad, praise and criticism.

The criticism is about our position on the internal politics of The Gambia.

Our view is that 'many of the people' in The Gambia are suffering from 'Economic Slavery' and until that is addressed, politics for those people is just a side issue. Politicians from all parties often say they are helping, but then take advantage of their economic situation to control the population they govern.

In general, it is true to say that "power corrupts". Most politicians are much richer than the people they say they represent, they regularly come to power by promising the unattainable and then cling onto that power almost at any cost.

Where there are casualties, alledged injustices and crimes against individuals and families, those MUST be investigated and judged fairly, but the economic position will still remain the same. A different body of politicians will produce a different catalogue of allegations. THAT IS POLITICS.

Please do not condemn GTS for wishing to address the issues beneath the politics.

Until a population is economically FREE, until its members can determine their own future, can choose feeding AND educating, not the one OR the other. We feel all politicians are merely on the fringe of existance for most ordinary people.

Good and bad politicians will come and go, the top supporters and leaders of both will get rich and eventually be judged.
BUT will the lives of the ordinary people improve?

History is littered with examples that suggest that ordinary people are used by the politicians, but generally not helped very much by them.

Critics who drag up the Colonial Past or trade Black versus White insults, are talking the politics of hatred & revenge and do their cause no good, their mistrust is their own vulnerability.

People who appear to be your natural friends often proove to be your bitter enemies and those you at first suspect turn out to be your most faithful friends.

Emails and messages from supporters have greatly outnumbered the others, but it is sad that there are Gambians who would like to destroy the tourist industry, despite the suffering that that will cause ordinary people, using it as a political weapon to try and gain power for themselves or their masters.
