Abdoulie is the youngest child of a very poor family. Because of their financial difficulties, his 3 brothers and one sister could not afford to finish their education and subsequently none of them are employed. One of his sisters was fortunate to get sponsorship from her husband.

His mother is a housewife and his father is elderly, managing on a small salary which really only covers their basic needs - food. Many rely on extended family support to help in these circumstances, but Abdoulie's father has no relatives to help him with his family.

Abdoulie says he does not want to fall into the same trap as his siblings who could not complete their education, he wants to do his 'utmost best to come out with flying colours' at school, and has an ambition to be a journalist.

His favourite subjects are English, Maths, Science and History.
