If you don't walk out from your Hotel, you may still see bits of The Gambia through the windows of a tour operators bus - BUT there are alternatives

There's foot, most of the Atlantic Coast hotels are on or very near the beautiful beaches, you may get chatted to along the way - many just want to be friendly, most will ask for some money. Giving charity is part of a Muslim's faith and asking for charity allows people to give. A few Dalasi go a long way, but if you don't want to be bothered be polite and firm but walk on.

Many people, who want to walk, take a friendly Gambian with them to act as a minder and local companion, it will cost you about the same as giving charity, but can be much more relaxed. GTS support a number of locals who will act on your behalf in this way as a HOST.

Cycles, Motorised cycles and quads A number of private operators run hire facilities by the hour, half or full days, a GTS Host can always accompany you.
